I have more than 24 years experience of working as a lecturer and tutor at University level within the field of teacher education, physical education, sport and dance. My own qualifications as a PhD (Psychology). MSc Research and Education and a BEd(Hons) in Physical Education. In recent years I have worked as a tutor for the Profs and International Tutoring Company and prior to this I supported students form undergraduate to doctoral level in their studies at the Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. I am passionate about supporting students as they take on the challenges of academic study and work towards their qualifications. In addition to my academic tutoring roles I have a vast experience of enabling students to develop their confidence and to achieve their potential in their studies. While I have been very involved in a range of research areas as a University lecturer one of the best parts of the job for me has always been working closely with a diverse range of students and subject disciplines and being able to develop a professional and supportive relationship with all students I have worked with over many years.

About Me

I am a very experienced, committed and approachable tutor who has worked in education for around 39 years and have a very good understanding of the challenges facing young people and students as they work towards achieving their own educational qualifications. Having completed my own masters and PhD after being away from studying for over 20 years I am fully aware of the challenges not only young people but also mature students face when they return to study. I am very understanding of the fact that in current times many students and clients face the very real challenge of trying to balance work, life and study all at the same time.
In additions to my own academic and tutoring experience I also have experience of :counselling. mindfulness and well-being. Much of my own research focusses on stress, coping well-being and in the last ten years student and teacher resilience.

Tutor Experience

I have a very successful track record as a tutor of enabling my students and clients to meet the many challenges they face as they work towards a range of qualifications form GSCE to University degrees at all levels up to doctoral level. Over the last year in particular and my role as a Profs lecturer I have had many clients achieve their potential and beyond in relation to developing their academic writing, developing their understanding of the research process, competing dissertations while under pressure, grappling with statistics (SPSS) and research design and analysis within both quantitative (survey design, descriptive and inferential statistics) and qualitative research methods (thematic , discourse analyses and grounded theory). Many of these students were majoring in psychology, some in sport ,physical educations and dance and others in general education degrees. In addition, I have successfully supported a number of doctoral students who were experiencing difficulties within their doctoral journey and a range of students completing their final dissertations. My key strengths lie within the area of research and research methods and due to my own range of academic and professional experience I can tutor across a diverse range of subject areas. In summary I have worked with students for over 24 years and alongside my work at University level I have embraced working with clients as a very experienced online tutor.
