About Me

I love teaching, in particular the challenge of tailoring my approach to the individual to create a bespoke learning programme for the best results. I aim to find sources of anxiety early on and take extra care over these aspects with the student, so their confidence builds as we make progress in addressing any weaknesses that may be holding them back from achieving their best grade.

I offer comprehensive tutoring and consultancy services across a wide range of academic needs. My expertise spans preparing students for American standardised exams like the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, ISEE, and SSAT, as well as providing academic support for AP, IB, A Level, and undergraduate courses. In addition to test preparation and academic tutoring, I also guide students through the university application process as an applications consultant, offering personalised support for personal statement editing, course selection, profile development, and portfolio creation. With over 200 students successfully assisted, including many accepted to Ivy League schools and major business schools, I help students excel academically and navigate the entire journey from exams to university acceptance.

Tutor Experience

I am a highly skilled and dedicated tutor with extensive experience in guiding AP, IB, A Level, and undergraduate students through every stage of their academic journey, from mastering coursework to securing university placements. Alongside helping students achieve their academic goals, I specialise in undergraduate and postgraduate US/UK/Europe applications. I provide support for personal statement editing, course selection, profile development and portfolio creation, and have helped upwards of 500 students secure places at top institutions. I am an expert in Verbal skills for US university entrance exams and have achieved perfect scores for all the tests I teach. Having held Lead/Head Tutor positions at several London agencies before working independently, my extensive background equips me with the skills and experience to support any kind of student. I also have a wealth of experience working with neurodivergent students and those with special educational needs.

Before becoming a full-time mentor, I was a senior editor at the Guardian newspaper for more than a decade. Alongside my tutoring work, I am currently an editor at a small publishing press specialising in works of philosophy, and lead a postgrad writing course at the New Centre for Research and Practice.

Topic Expertise

My subject expertise ranges from English Literature to Theology, via Psychology, Philosophy, Anthropology, Politics, History and Sociology. I have supported students in all these subjects at various levels, from GCSE to IB, A Level and graduate.

With more than a decade's experience as a newspaper journalist, I also offer a wealth of expertise in this area - from help with writing sparkling articles and essays, to support with research, creative writing and imagery.
