I am a highly motivated and dedicated science teacher with several years of experience, currently serving as Head of Department. I am deeply passionate about teaching and learning, constantly exploring new methods to engage students and improve their academic experience. My expertise in chemistry allows me to break down complex concepts, making them accessible and exciting, while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As Head of Department, I lead by example, ensuring high standards of teaching and creating a collaborative and supportive environment for both students and staff. I am committed to enhancing the quality of learning, developing innovative teaching strategies, and integrating technology to better support diverse learning needs. I am also passionate about the professional development of my team, always seeking to share best practices and encourage continuous improvement across the department. My goal is to inspire a lifelong love of science and support both student and teacher growth.
I am an experienced science teacher with a strong focus on chemistry, and I have taught across KS3, GCSE, and A-Level, specialising in both AQA and Edexcel specifications. At KS3, I teach the AQA Science curriculum, where I focus on building a solid foundation in key scientific concepts. Topics include chemical reactions, forces, energy, and the structure of matter. My aim is to make science engaging and accessible, fostering curiosity and a strong understanding of core principles that students will build on in later stages of their education.
At GCSE, I teach both AQA and Edexcel Chemistry, covering essential topics such as atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and the periodic table. At A-Level, I provide in-depth instruction on advanced topics like organic chemistry, thermodynamics, and chemical kinetics. I use a variety of teaching methods, including practical experiments, interactive resources, and problem-solving exercises, to keep students engaged and encourage critical thinking.
In addition to my classroom teaching, I have extensive experience as a private tutor, providing tailored support to students from KS3 through to A-Level. My tutoring approach focuses on individual needs, strengthening both subject knowledge and exam technique. Many of my tutees have improved their grades by two or more levels, and several have successfully progressed to top universities to study chemistry-related courses.
As Head of the Chemistry Department, I have led several initiatives to improve teaching quality and student outcomes, implementing targeted interventions and fostering collaboration among staff. This has resulted in a significant increase in the department’s passing rates and overall student performance.
