About Me

I am a trained English and Drama teacher with a First-Class degree in English Literature. In addition, I am an ICF-trained mental health and academic coach, which informs my holistic and pastoral approach to tutoring. I have a particular passion for teaching creative writing and poetry, and during my undergraduate degree, I specialised in postcolonial and feminist literature.

My teaching style is dynamic and engaging, incorporating a variety of exercises and multimedia to make lessons enjoyable and effective. I take the time to learn about my students’ interests outside of school, using these to enhance their learning experience. Known for my empathy and intuition, I have a strong track record of building rapport quickly and supporting struggling students beyond academics.

Outside of teaching, I am an active writer and I am deeply passionate about creative writing and dedicated to inspiring the next generation of writers.

Tutor Experience

I am a fully qualified and trained English and Drama secondary school teacher, with one years experience teaching both subjects in the classroom with groups of 25 students in inner-London secondary schools. I was praised during evaluations for my ability to focus on individual student needs and for my ability to establish rapport very quickly.

I have been tutoring for three full academic years and in that time, I've seen huge success with the students I've worked with. Last exam results day, all of my students achieved their target grades, with the majority achieving a grade boundary above. I am also proud of how many of my student's confidences flourished through working with me, an area I focus on and have a lot of passion for.

My biggest success was with an English as a secondary language student, who had missed a lot of secondary school and started studying for her GCSE exams with me in March, to take the exams in May. I was extremely proud that she achieved two B's on results day, having worked with me 3 hours a day towards the exams! I also worked with an A Level student who was predicted a D but received an A on result day, so I have a strong record of grade success.

I have experience with students of all abilities, from higher ability to students with specialist educational needs and English as a secondary language. This was further developed during my time as a cover teaching assistant, where I worked with SEND students during their exams, and during my time volunteering at a school in Spain, where I supported the English teacher and taught English as a secondary language.

Topic Expertise

I have extensive experience teaching English GCSE and A Level across all exam boards, with a particular focus on Cambridge, Edexcel, OCR, and AQA. I am proud to have a 100% exam pass rate. At GCSE, I specialise in helping students move from grades 3-4 to 5-6+, including resit students. At A Level, I support multiple students targeted for A-A*.

In addition to GCSE and A Level, I teach IB English, providing guidance on Extended Essays, Higher Level essays, and Internal Orals. I have successfully supported EE students in English Literature, Theatre Studies, and Art essays, all with excellent outcomes.

At Key Stage 3, I have taught both English and Drama. My English teaching includes poetry, prose, plays (modern and Shakespeare), creative writing, and language skills. In Drama, I have covered acting techniques, key texts, and devising performances for GCSE Drama.

I also specialise in personal statement writing, with all my students securing places at their top or second-choice universities.

Beyond secondary education, I support undergraduate English Literature students with essay assignments and dissertation writing. My academic specialisms include modern (20th-century), postcolonial, feminist, and queer literature.

As a trained ICF coach, I am particularly interested in providing coaching support for students, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and academic success. My coaching methodology is used in every lesson I teach, creating a relationship of rapport and trust with my students.

Client Reviews

Daisy is a brilliant tutor to my son,he has learned so much from her support for his study of A Level English Literature. She is highly recommended.

- English Literature

Daisy is an amazing teacher and is really inspiring our daughter with her literature and creative writing. We are living in France and want her to sit her English gcse and Daisy is enabling this, and keeping up her passion for English.

- English Language

Daisy is an amazing teacher! I came into an international school and had very little background in english language especially in literature. However I started having classes with Daisy in grade 10 and started improving and went from having 3 and 4 to 6 and 7 as I skipped grade 9 and attended only grade 10 I only had one year to prepare for the exams of a 2 year programme however Daisy prepared me so well that I scored both A’s on my language and literature exams I can confidentially say that I enhanced my skills in english so much. She is also really supportive and kind and always come to class with a positive mindset and ready to help. Best tutour I had so far.

- English Language

Daisy's teaching is both engaging and effective, thanks to her personalised approach. She has been great in giving me constructive feedback about my weak areas in English. This has helped improve my analysis of texts and the structure of my writing. Additionally, as a student taking International A-levels, she has shown me her broad understanding of different exam boards, displaying how she also personalises the way she teaches to meet my exam board's specific requirements. Through Daisy’s lessons I have developed skills that make my writing stronger and have gained more confidence in my abilities as an English student.

- English Literature

I had an amazing time with her! Her explanations are clear and easy to understand. She is also a very fun and kind person, making subjects less boring. Very trust worthy and also always on time.
I could confidently go to my exams, after her tutoring. I highly recommend her to anyone :)

This was a fantastic lesson, it really helped me focus on my areas of weakness and how to improve upon them in order to maximise my grade. I have left todays lesson with valuable insight and would rate 10 starts out of 5 if I could.

Parent, GCSE
SEND Student: From D to B

Daisy is truly unique, the bond she has formed with my daughter over the past three years has been incredibly special. She was predicted a D at the start of her GCSE year. Through her hard work and determination with Daisy, she managed to get a B in both Literature and Language. Daisy is just an incredible teacher: so likeable, warm and fun. My daughter would be lost without Daisy's amazing support.
