I am a trained English and Drama teacher with a First Class English literature degree and a lot of passion for my subjects! I am particularly interested in and enthusiastic about teaching creative writing and poetry. During my undergraduate degree, I focused on postcolonial and feminist literature.
I strive to make my lessons as fun and interesting as possible by using a variety of exercises, multimedia and learning my students' interests outside of school to support my teaching. I have a passion for student mental health and pastoral care, which I developed during my training. I'm an empathetic and intuitive individual who has a strong track record of quickly developing rapport and supporting struggling students beyond academia.
In my spare time, I write as part of an online international writing community and currently manage a community of over 75 writers. I am passionate about teaching creative writing and encouraging the next generation of writers.
As a fully trained teacher with years of experience and a track record of success, I typically charge £55 for KS3 and below, £55-60 for GCSE and A Level. I am open to reducing prices if you can commit to a block of lessons, but cannot go below £55. I tutor Mondays - Fridays.
My cancellation policy
Free cancellations up to 24 hours before the class
100% charge for cancellations within 24 hours including missed lessons
I will always try and give you 24 hours warning if I need to cancel, too, and there will of course be no charge to you if I need to cancel.
I am a fully qualified and trained English and Drama secondary school teacher, with one years experience teaching both subjects in the classroom with groups of 25 students in inner-London secondary schools. I was praised during evaluations for my ability to focus on individual student needs and for my ability to establish rapport very quickly.
I have been tutoring for three full academic years and in that time, I've seen huge success with the students I've worked with. Last exam results day, all of my students achieved their target grades, with the majority achieving a grade boundary above. I am also proud of how many of my student's confidences flourished through working with me, an area I focus on and have a lot of passion for.
My biggest success was with an English as a secondary language student, who had missed a lot o secondary school and started studying for her GCSE exams with me in March, to take the exams in May. I was extremely proud that she achieved two B's on results day, having worked with me 3 hours a day towards the exams! I also worked with an A Level student who was predicted a D but received an A on result day, so I have a strong record of grade success.
I have experience with students of all abilities, from higher ability to students with specialist educational needs and English as a secondary language. This was further developed during my time as a cover teaching assistant, where I worked with SEND students during their exams, and during my time volunteering at a school in Spain, where I supported the English teacher and taught English as a secondary language.
I have taught English GCSE and A Level across all exam boards, but have worked more specifically with the Cambridge and Edexcel systems. Moreover, I have experience of marking across all of the above exam boards and am confident that I can teach a wider variety of exam boards. I am familiar with marking criteria across my subject area and have supported students through the examination process.
I have also taught across key stage 3 in both subjects. In English, this includes poetry, prose, plays (both modern and Shakespeare), creative writing and English language. In Drama, I have taught classes on a variety of acting techniques and texts, including devising performances for Drama GCSE.
I have also taught IB students, AP English students and students following the 11+ system in Australia. I have also supported personal statement writing.
I had an amazing time with her! Her explanations are clear and easy to understand. She is also a very fun and kind person, making subjects less boring. Very trust worthy and also always on time.
I could confidently go to my exams, after her tutoring. I highly recommend her to anyone :)
You are the legit best!!! Thank you so so much :))
This was a fantastic lesson, it really helped me focus on my areas of weakness and how to improve upon them in order to maximise my grade. I have left todays lesson with valuable insight and would rate 10 starts out of 5 if I could.
This class was fantastic, writing from a student's perspective, Daisy was very enthusiastic and gave constructive and detailed explanations for how I could improve the structure of my essays. I am very exited to work with Daisy again and would give her 10 out of 5 stars if I could, she really helped to motivate me :)
Amazing class! Daisy helped me thoroughly analyse the play which we are studying!
Extremely good tutoring. Helped a lot. Thank you.

According to our daughter, ''Daisy was really fun and she made the session exciting and interactive. She discussed different styles of writing and techniques which helped her to improve her creative writing ability''.
