Reference for Victoria Hall
It’s a pleasure to give a reference for Victoria who has been a wonderful tutor to our three boys. She has shown a real flare for teaching and a deep understanding of the curriculum and what was needed from the different examination systems that our boys were doing.
She first began working with our eldest son was 11 as was preparing for the ISEB Common pre-test for Wellington College. She quickly established a great relationship with him and worked out his strengths and weaknesses. She designed a programme to work with him on the areas that would be tested. She also prepared him for interviews. Victoria instilled in him a lot of confidence and he looked forward to her sessions. She also taught him English and Maths and was very knowledgeable about the standards required and really understood how our son ‘ticked’. He was subsequently successful in the entrance process for Wellington and also for Eton, where he will begin in September 2017.
Victoria then worked with our younger two boys (twins) who were sitting entrance exams for Hampton School, Wellington and Eton. All three require different preparation and once again Victoria was able to tailor the sessions to make them engaging and focused. She brought all sorts of past papers and devised lessons that stretched and challenged the boys while filling them with confidence. They too were successful in all three entrance exams and will start Eton in 2018.
We found Victoria to be a wonderful teacher. She has a natural rapport with the children who all looked forward to her lessons. She struck a great balance between being kind and supportive and getting them to actually do plenty of work!
She’s also a great communicator who gave us useful feedback on how our boys were progressing and she was a pleasure to have in our home.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and indeed depending on her schedule, I hope she will work with the boys again in the future.
