I estimate I have at least 6000 hours of experience, having been a tutor since 2011. I initially started teaching Maths and Physics to Engineering students at University and I gradually expanded into secondary school level tuition. I have worked full time as a tutor since 2012 and during that time I have taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering.
I have taught A Levels, IGCSE/GCSE, IB, Pre-U, AP and I have covered nearly every exam board including Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC. All of my students are seeking to get into top Univeristies.
What makes me a good tutor is my ability to break down a subject and cover it in a particular order so that a student who might not have a good understanding can understand how to progress through the topics. It doesn't hurt that I have a sense of humour and make my lessons actually fun and enjoyable.
I have successfully taught all subjects I am offering up to and including A Level. Experienced with AQA, OCR, Edexcel, and Eduqas. As a senior leader I have coached and mentored new and experienced teachers giving me a deep understanding of teaching methodologies. Skilled in differentiating learning, my student-centred approach ensures all students make progress. I am dedicated to developing the passion for lifelong learning in others.
I am a patient tutor, and I am able to simplify complex topics and dispel confusion.
I have tutoring and teaching experience with CIE iGCSE's in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, as well as CIE A-level Physics.
I also have teaching experience with Edexcel Maths (C1, C2, C3, and C4; aka C12 and C34)
I am also capable of tutoring A-level Mechanics .
I am a fully qualified teacher (QTLS) with six years experience teaching engineering and mathematics at Levels 2, 3 and university level. My experience includes one-to-one teaching as well as teaching small groups.
3 years+ experience tutoring in Materials Science and Engineering
- Microstructure and Properties, Phase Diagrams, Metallurgy
- Mechanics, Stress-Strain Curves, TTT Diagrams, CCT Diagrams
- Composites, Glasses, Manufacturing, Electronic Properties of Materials
- Functional Materials, Nano-technology, Biomaterials, Thermodynamics
- Open University Associate Lecturer
- Graduate Teaching Assistant at Imperial College London
I have always been passionate about teaching, I started volunteering as a teacher assistant whilst studying for my undergraduate degree at both Primary Schools and Secondary Schools. I also mentored first year university students when I was in my final year. I started teaching as a graduate teaching assistant when I started my PhD. With my successful profile and excellent feedbacks both from students and lecturers I begun to tutor students to achieve their goals after completing my PhD and until now I have received lots of great reviews.
I have a PhD in Engineering and a First Class MEng (Honours) in Ship Science from the University of Southampton. Since graduating I have gained over 5 years of experience in lecturing and tutoring engineering subjects, all of which required a strong background in maths and physics. I have always been keen to inspire students of all ages and abilities in STEM subjects and as such have a very varied tutoring background including undergraduate and postgraduate level at university, secondary school level during outreach workshops and lectures held both in schools and at university, and teaching industry professionals engineering at a university in Singapore.
I am experienced in teaching using a range of learning techniques including quizzes, demonstrations, example questions, and linking problems to real world situations, allowing me to tailor sessions to meet the requirements of the individual. If a student is struggling I am experienced in breaking down complex concepts into a number of simple steps in order to build the students knowledge and help them to progress. Above all I aim to make the subjects interesting and enjoyable to the students.
3+ Years of private tutoring focusing on Matlab and engineering sciences
Tutoring across all years of the Imperial College Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering:
ME2 Thermodynamics - Engine test lab demonstration and coursework marking.
ME3 Thermodynamics and Energy - Tutorials.
ME4 Vehicle Propulsion Technology - Assist in coursework preparation, marking and the supporting tutorials.
I worked as a teaching assistant, marker, and lab instructor at the University of Alberta, Canada. I taught power electronics and variable speed drives, where I helped students to understand and apply courses theoretical material in lab sessions using typical industrial equipment (PLX15 DC Drive, PowerFlex 70 AC Drive, Allen-Bradley Induction Machine, and Power quality analyzer).
Additionally, I taught several power system courses (Electrical Measurements, Energy Conversion Systems, Induction Machines, Modern Control, Transmission and Distribution of Electrical Energy, Power System Analysis and Power Electronics) at Ain Shams University and Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt.
I also prepared theoretical material and co-supervision of Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Protection, High Voltage, Automation (ABB PLCs and ABB VSDs), and Electrical Measurements labs.
I've been working as a private tutor with The Profs since 2015, giving lectures of different engineering topics, from physics and math to materials and dynamics.
I also have experience as a Teaching Assistant at Imperial College London (2015-2018) and at Georgia Institute of Technology (USA, 2014).
