BA (JS) Scholastic Philosophy and Theology First Class Honours

For over 10 years now I have enabled a wide range of students access the particular learning resources they needed to succeed within a range of subjects including (but not limited to) Philosophy, Education, Religion and English. I take pride in my flexible and dynamic approach that both inspires a passion for learning and produces tangible results – understanding that we are each upon a unique learning pathway according to our particular styles, aspirations, aptitudes and needs.

NOTE: due to my unique approach of coaching for highly transferable academic skills, it usually takes fewer lessons than typically expected, to achieve results - ensuring your maximum value for money.

About me

For over a decade now I have worked with a diverse range of students, engendering a passion for learning as well as producing tangible results. I employ a flexible and dynamic approach crafted from an understanding that we are each upon a unique learning pathway according to our particular styles, aspirations, aptitudes and needs.

Tutor Experience

"The learning exercises were always set around my interest areas, making tuition both fun and effective. Following my sessions with Andrew, I have developed a more concise way of communicating. My writing now has more flow, which helps me say what I need to say." - Neil , Newtownabbey

I'm passionate about nurturing the potential of each student with whom I have the privilege of working. With over 10 years' experience as a Learning Coach with countless individuals and groups, Diploma in Life Coaching as well as a successful university graduate (1st class hons in Philosophy) and additional Masters research degree in Developmental Psychology, I previously taught at Secondary school and most recently trained nursing professionals to pass their IELTS exams.

I am also a regular public speaker and workshop leader in the private health sector, delivering courses in areas from stress-management and communication skills, to self-care and personal development.

Topic Expertise

My specialist subjects at all levels are literature-based and the human sciences, particularly: philosophy, religion and ethics. I also have lots of experience tutoring for English Language and Literature (native and non-native speakers). Along with those subjects, I offer 'study skills' sessions, consisting in personalised, tailored assistance that incorporates motivational coaching on exam and essay skills, ensuring maximum value for investment of your time, money and effort.

**Upon request I also offer 1-1 coaching sessions addressing aspects such as emotional literacy, motivation, communication, mindfulness, self-belief and concentration.

If you read Andrew's bio, you will see how much he values transferable study skills and how he wants you to get the most out of your sessions. Although we discussed academic things today from my English and Psychology class, he always pointed me back towards the importance of our mindset in tackling new challenges which may arise personally and academically. I enjoyed how balanced this session was and I look forward to our next meeting! - Talya

"Fantastic! Andrew was very helpful in breaking down concepts and helping me understand certain texts." - Hibaaq

"Andrew has been working with my fourteen year old son for the last few months mainly focusing on study skills and organisational skills. During this time my son has improved tremendously at school, he is scoring much higher in all his class tests and his confidence has grown significantly. Andrew is very patient and calm in his approach to tutoring and my son really enjoys working with him." - Dr Jeanette Robinson, Queen's University Belfast
