About Me

I love exploring the great outdoors: hillwalking, camping, jogging, cycling and hiking! I'll try anything once. While indoors, I enjoy a good movie or a game on Virtual Reality. I also have a growing selection of houseplants that I take care of and enjoy watching them 'magically' grow. In life as in work, I am well-known for my own 'superpower'...

Tutor Experience

"The learning exercises were always set around my interest areas, making tuition both fun and effective. Following my sessions with Andrew, I have developed a more concise way of communicating. My writing now has more flow, which helps me say what I need to say." - Neil , Newtownabbey

I have over 10 years' experience as a Learning Coach with a range of individuals and groups. With a Diploma in Life Coaching, a successful university graduate degree (1st class hons Philosophy and Theology) and additional masters research degree (Developmental Psychology), I previously taught at Secondary school and most recently a trainer and consultant within the private healthcare sector.

Topic Expertise

My main specialisms are Philosophy and Psychology (Developmental and Counselling/Psychotherapy).

I also assist with Study Skills sessions, including coaching for exam and essay skills.

Due to my unique approach of coaching for highly transferable academic skills, it usually takes fewer lessons than typical, to achieve results - ensuring maximum value for your investment of time, money and effort.

Upon request I offer 1-1, personalised and tailored sessions for: motivation, time-management, communication, mindfulness, emotional literacy, self-belief, focus, etc

A good intro lesson for our 11 yr old son. Andrew made a great effort to connect with him at the start of the lesson by chatting about our son's life and his interests. He was positive and encouraging throughout the lesson.

"Andrew took the time to colour-code his feedback which is always helpful. He also sent me files with templates on how to structure my essay and suggestions about which conjunctions I can use to increase the variety of vocabulary in my essay. I appreciated how his comments were never forceful but only ever a suggestion and it made me feel eager to edit my essay rather than judged for making mistakes. I strongly recommend his offline classes as well as his online classes!" - Talya

"Thanks again for all your help; you're clearly the reason for the bump up in marks as I've only ever achieved a 68 !! " L. G

If you read Andrew's bio, you will see how much he values transferable study skills and how he wants you to get the most out of your sessions. Although we discussed academic things today from my English and Psychology class, he always pointed me back towards the importance of our mindset in tackling new challenges which may arise personally and academically. I enjoyed how balanced this session was and I look forward to our next meeting!
- Talya
