KATHRYN $35-45/hr

Economics, Computing Science, - York University

I am a trained language coach and have studied how to keep students calm in my classes. Being happy allows them to learn faster. Because I am patient and kind, I can give constructive feedback without any judgement, and my students receive the feedback they need without feeling criticised. They respond by engaging in the lessons more, looking forward to them and performing at a higher level. I am efficient. I do not limit myself to standard coursework and books where a student will repeat things they already know and feel dissatisfied. Because I have studied languages myself, I have first-hand experience of this, and I avoid it for my students. I tailor my classes to each student and their particular needs.

Jude $50-60/hr

PhD - Bath Spa

I have been tutoring for over 20 years and was Head of Department and teacher of English in a leading online school for ten years. I have taught all aspects of English Language and Literature from providing assistance at undergraduate level, through A Levels and GCSEs, down to KS1. What I love about tutoring one-to-one is the building up of a personal relationship with a student and seeing them gain confidence and develop. Every student is different and learns in a different way, and I have a firm belief that, given the right teacher, everyone can do really well in English. I have also taught History to GCSE and KS3 and run Drama groups, and have participated in additional tutoring for LAMDA.
I have 2 TEFL certificates and have tutored for IELTS/TOEFL/C2 as well as having taught practical conversational English to mixed age/ability groups.

Eleanor $35-45/hr

Music (1st) - Kings College London

I am a qualified teacher with over seven years of experience teaching in schools in the UK and overseas. I have taught both music and English as a foreign language, as well as tutoring students through ABRSM piano and music theory exams. My GCSE results are consistently high, and all of my piano students achieved merit or above in their exams. I have taught AQA, Edexcel and IGCSE Music. I have also coached students through A level music.

Eleanor's last completed TOEFL job with Ayna: Intensive - Hi! I'm perfectly fluent in English. I plan to apply for top MBA programs in USA by September this year and need to pass TOEFL exam with highest scores. I can't organise myself to study on my own as I have a full time job and kids, so I think private tutor could really help me

Rhiannon $25-35/hr

Modern and Medieval Languages - University of Cambridge

I am a CELTA-qualified teacher, English native speaker and Masters graduate with a broad range of teaching experience, including business English, teaching children and adults, exam preparation, intensive classes and project-based learning. I have taught various levels and class sizes and am skilled at adapting my methods to individual learners. In addition to English, I have taught French, German and Russian, all of which I speak at a C1/C2 level.

In a number of teaching roles, including my current one teaching adult refugees, I have gained experience with a wide range of learner groups and teaching approaches. Having worked sometimes with pre-set curricula but often with the freedom to design my own curriculum, I have built up experience in creating learning programmes that teach and assess material in an engaging, memorable and meaningful way. As a volunteer for online high school Sky School, where I've helped to build the 'English for Changemakers' module, I've gained an insight into how distance education works, what platforms are available for it, and how it can be made impactful for learners.

Alain $35-45/hr

Philosophy & Politics - Warwick University

I have been teaching about 8 years and two of these years have involved tutoring online. I am very knowledgeable when it comes to online resources for learning and I typically like to use Zoom for my live classes, as well as Google documents and Google sites. I think one innovative thing I do is to create for my students their own 'study website' using Google sites. It is fairly easy to set up but it just means that you can have access to all our lessons on your phone.

Before I started tutoring online, I also tutored for International House for just over a year. I think I have a lot of experience when it comes to working with people one on one and I have lots of ex students who have credited me with helping them pass their exams.
