About Me

I am currently studying Graduate Medicine at the University of Cambridge, alternating between preclinical studies at university and clinical placement at hospital and GP. My previous degrees are Biomedical Science at the University of York and Translational Neurology at UCL.

As fascinating and exciting as medicine is, I have lots of other hobbies and make sure to keep doing them all throughout university. I love cooking, playing the cello (to grade 6 merit level), playing the guitar (badly), playing tennis (both friendly matches and with the Hughes Hall Cambridge team) and have recently taken up paddle boarding. I love travelling and am currently studying Italian, with the aim of being conversationally fluent by the time I qualify as a doctor.

My enthusiasm for teaching means that tutoring goes beyond being a job for me and I wish to continue teaching as part of my career as a doctor. I try not only to tutor the bare minimum needed for exams, but also motivate students towards their dream career. I believe it is important to emphasise the future relevance of GCSE and A-Level topics, especially with those looking towards a career in medicine.

Tutor Experience

Tutoring agencies and private tutoring - I have taught students both online and in person.

Self-employed - I have over 1100 hours of online tutoring experience, with over ten previous students and three current students. I have taught group lessons and supported students with learning difficulties. My subjects range from GCSE to IB and A-Level. I have also helped tutees with university admissions, essay writing and research projects. I have tutored in-person in London, online across the UK and even abroad (Singapore).

Exam Board experience: AQA, Edexcel, iGCSE, OCR and WJEC.

Undergraduate Student Mentor: I supported new undergraduate Biology students at York from a pastoral point of view, enabling them to transition into university life.

Tutoring Statistics (2022):
GCSE student: 8s and 9s in all subjects.
GCSE student: 8s and 9s in all subjects.
GCSE student: 8s and 9s in all subjects.
IB student: successful admission to 1st University choice.
A-Level student: successful admission to 1st University choice.

My approach: I am flexible in how I tutor and am happy to adapt to specific students. I have powerpoint presentations that cover exam-board specific subjects, use interactive whiteboard applications and then screen share past-paper questions that will challenge students at an individual level. I use lots of visual aids and provide students with advice on not just what to learn, but how to learn it. I attempt to motivate my tutees by relating GCSE and A-Level content to their personal interests/hobbies. For example, why an understanding of the Doppler effect in GCSE Physics will help a prospective medical student learn to use ultrasound scanning in the future.

Topic Expertise

GCSE and A-Level: I tutor a range of subjects and enjoy teaching them all. I am particularly passionate about science.

University: Medicine (anatomy/physiology/clinical medicine), Medicine admissions, Oxbridge admissions, UCAT exam, research methods and dissertation/essay writing.
