Trevor $65-75/hr

Business and Economics - Nottingham University

I passionately believe in students achieving their potential and enjoy the role of personal tutoring to further aid students learning. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business and Economics (2:1) and have worked for a number of large organisations offering a variety of depth and experience. Online tutoring is about helping students form around the world to access education via the platform of the internet, to help them succeed at their studies. Firstly, I like to make an initial meeting to understand the needs and objectives of the personal tutoring before developing a detailed plan of the outline of personal tutoring support. I am keen to ensure that both parents and students alike are happy with the service and will accommodate additional requests. I like to ensure that the learner is both enthused and engaged in the tutoring sessions and have a range of resources and assessment techniques.

Subjects and levels taught:
Economics: A Level and GCSE (Pearson, AQA and OCR)
Business Studies: A Level and GCSE (Pearson, AQA, OCR and WJEC)
BTEC Business: Level 2 and Level 3
Cambridge Technicals: Level 2 and Level 3

Trevor's last completed A Level Business Studies job with Rebecca: 1-2 hrs/week - My son is doing A level business studies. He enjoys it but is now moving on to more project-based work and is unsure how to proceed now the schools are shut. He’d also be glad to consolidate and deepen his understanding of what he’s done so far. He has Aspergers and his processing is a bit slow so he wants to work steadily so he’s well prepared for the A level exams when he gets to that point.

Trevor's last review in A Level Business Studies from Julie: Building confidence and "I can do this" approach in my son - making such a difference! thank you

Nicola $40-50/hr

Performance management - Leeds university

I have worked in the commercial business world and gained experience before moving into my passion for teaching. I want to concentrate on turning students I Can't statements into I Can, I believe that everyone has the potential to achieve they just need the correct guidance and that all important Mindset. Each student is different and gains the knowledge and understanding in different ways, as a tutor it is my job to find that way and release that potential.

My approach to teaching is to find the right method for the student. I believe each student has their own style of learning and we need to harness that style in order to succeed. I discuss the needs of the student and then assess the ability through a test. From the results I create a individual learning plan, using this plan we work together to find the best learning style ( practical, theory based, written, spoken, mix of styles) to turn the student from a knowledge and understanding into a expert and evaluator. I aim to have my students having a positive growth mindset and leave saying I Can do that!

Izabela $60-70/hr

MSc in International Business and Economics - Coventry University

I have over 10 years of tutoring experience.

Having tutored for several years, I am familiar with all major exam boards (Edexcel, OCR, AQA, CIE, IB,) and for University level, the general structure/format of exams that institutions typically set. I employ a pragmatic style that really delivers results and I generally look to improve grades by at least 2-grade boundaries, with the majority of my students receiving the top grade possible.

Furthermore, while many tutors may very well offer tuition regarding the material - I also pride myself on being able to help students with the other, less tangible skills required such as Exam technique and, crucially, Confidence. I feel this adds a huge amount of value and can impact grades significantly given the "it's how you perform on the day" factor. For those students who are at all panicked, nervous or worried by looming exams, I will ensure that this is no longer an issue by exam day.

Izabela 's last completed A Level Business Studies job with Alexandre: 1-2 hrs/week - Maxime very much enjoys Computer Science. However he would be glad to receive tutoring from an experienced IB tutor given than his existing teacher in Malta is not so much familiar with the IB syllabus and exam technics. He would be also happy to receive guidance for the structuring of his Internal Assesment.

Luke $50-60/hr

Education with Mathematics Teaching - Bath University

Firstly, it is crucial with exam based subjects that a tutee should target qualified teachers (with QTS) as they have conversed with the current changes that have taken place with GCSE and A-Levels. They are aware of syllabus amendments and have a range of tools to support how to interpret command verbs within the exam.

I am a qualified teacher (with QTS) that has over 10 years leading several departments in Computing, Business, ICT and Design across a range of qualifications and exam boards. As a result of this and exam board work (working as an exam marker), I feel I understand what is required to pass the exams.

The exam board experience stems over a range of exam boards (OCR, Pearsons, AQA and CIE) completing a variety of roles, from verifying coursework to exam marking and leading exam markers.

Both teaching and exam board commitments compliment each other, seeing the teaching misconceptions and to get the exam marks, with great success in my teaching.

I have a good understanding of assessment needs to qualify for the higher Level questions in exam papers which have proven successful (primarily focusing on the command verbs in the question) which can be a focus within the online lessons.

Luke's last completed A Level Business Studies job with Zoe: 1-2 hrs/week - Hi, I am looking for a tutor for my son (age 17, Yr 13) who is taking AQA Level 3 Applied General Business. He needs help primarily with the coursework side of things, understanding how to complete the templates most effectively and then more generally for the final exam at the end. Ideally we are looking for someone who has direct experience with this course (& the coursework involved) rather than a general business studies tutor (although I know the same business 'concepts' apply). Please let me know if you are able to help. Thanks.
