Myles $80-90/hr

Computer Science - Staffordshire University

I am a specialist Computer Science tutor/teacher with more than 20 years experience of private tutoring and teaching class based students. I hold a Degree and Masters Degree in Computer Science. I'm fully conversant with all exam board specifications including AQA, OCR, WJEC, EdExcel, IGCSE, Cambridge International, etc.

The subject I teach is my hobby. I have extensive experience of providing online tuition to students all around the UK, Europe and as far as Hong Kong.

Connecting and having a rapport with the student is key. I have two aims, one is to teach the topic within the specification. The other, more important, is to develop the student's confidence.

In addition, I am a full member of The Tutors Association. This is a professional body that ensures best practices and ethics by members.

Myles's last completed A Level job with Olivia: 1-2 hrs/week - I want to start ASAP to have some lessons over this summer break, to consolidate what I leaned in Year 12. I need particular practice on OCR style Algorithm questions that you find in Paper 2, as well as a bit of theory. Long run, I'm looking to get an A.

Myles's last review in A Level from Anton: CS Last class before the exam on Tuesday. It has been an amazing run with Myles. The best tutor hands down. I will miss our lessons every Tuesday and Thursday. They have always been fun and informative at the same time and I always enjoyed our sessions. He is a top quality tutor and if tutors of other subjects were as passionate as him then we would all be getting A's and A*'s.

Andrew $40-50/hr

BA Geography - University of Leicester

My name is Andrew Laming an experienced teacher of Geography from the UK.

I have been a teacher of Geography since 2003 and have worked in many successful secondary schools. I have been a Head of Geography in two schools for a period of 7 years. I have taught in a range of different schools from state to girls grammar and an independent school.

I have been an online tutor since September 2016 and am also a face to face tutor as well. I have taught many students and do specialize in A Level. I have also tutored students from Marlborough College, Godolphin School and Mount Kelly School, all prestigious independent schools and have enabled the students to achieve very high grades.

I tutor GCSE Geography and History and A Level Geography and History, and have taught all the main examination boards in my sessions: AQA, Cambridge igcse, Edexcel, OCR & Wjec Eduqas.

I have been for several years an expert examiner for Edexcel for GCSE and A Level Geography. This has given me an inside knowledge as to what exam boards expect and look for in the answers of students.

Andrew's last completed A Level job with Noorie: Over 2 hrs/week - I have just completed my first year of A-Levels and I am taking Edexcel History, Spanish and Economics. This year I have studied Russia in Revolution, The Stuarts and the Glorious Revolution, and will be returning next year to studying the Cold War (which is what my coursework is based on) and USA Civil Rights. I have a passion for History however I am currently finding it hard to perfect my exam technique - often losing marks due to time pressure as I am not being succinct. At the beginning of the year I struggled with History and was only achieving around 12-15 out of 20. However, I have recently been consistently scoring 'A' grade essays. Whilst I am keen to put the effort in to achieve my A in the subject to get into my preferred universities, I recently got a B (4% off an A) in my mock, and so would very much like to achieve a solid A (or A*!) in my resit this September so that I can improve my predicted grades. In addition, I am looking for a lot of help with answering source/ extracts (particularly with the Glorious Revolution section) questions as I find these the most challenging.

Andrew's last review in A Level from Uma: Hazardous Earth 33 markers, advice on answering 33 markers in general, Very good, covered exactly what I wanted to cover, overall very helpful.

Samantha $45-55/hr

Economics & Land Economy - University of Cambridge

I have tutored in maths & economics for six years, ranging from 7-18 years old. I am also a qualified teacher, with three years of teaching experience in a secondary school. For two of these years I was the Curriculum Leader for Maths & Economics, and was in charge of overhauling the curriculum in both subjects, planning and creating assessments, and supporting students who were falling behind or who needed challenging. This means I have wealth of experience in planning lessons to support students at all levels, including those with special educational needs; I have worked with many pupils with SEN, from dyslexia to autism, both as a teacher and tutor. Creating engaging resources and lessons which address difficulties students have in accessing or understanding the subject is at the heart of what I do.

Samantha's last completed A Level job with Matt: Intensive - A-level economics syllabus. Preparation for the exam in June 2019. He needs to get an A and is currently predicted C. He grasps the subject very well but has not got the “exam technique” re formulae etc..

Samantha's last review in A Level from Rachel: Another amazing session!

Shahid $75-85/hr

MSc - Manchester

I estimate I have at least 6000 hours of experience, having been a tutor since 2011. I initially started teaching Maths and Physics to Engineering students at University and I gradually expanded into secondary school level tuition. I have worked full time as a tutor since 2012 and during that time I have taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering.

I have taught A Levels, IGCSE/GCSE, IB, Pre-U, AP and I have covered nearly every exam board including Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC. All of my students are seeking to get into top Univeristies.
What makes me a good tutor is my ability to break down a subject and cover it in a particular order so that a student who might not have a good understanding can understand how to progress through the topics. It doesn't hurt that I have a sense of humour and make my lessons actually fun and enjoyable.

Shahid's last completed A Level job with Michelle: Intensive - My son was disappointed in his Physics mock results and is looking for intensive tuition from now until the exams in May, Basically, one on one via Skype (we live in Switzerland) to answer questions and make sure that his knowledge base is good.

Trevor $60-70/hr

Business and Economics - Nottingham University

I passionately believe in students achieving their potential and enjoy the role of personal tutoring to further aid students learning. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business and Economics (2:1) and have worked for a number of large organisations offering a variety of depth and experience. Online tutoring is about helping students form around the world to access education via the platform of the internet, to help them succeed at their studies. Firstly, I like to make an initial meeting to understand the needs and objectives of the personal tutoring before developing a detailed plan of the outline of personal tutoring support. I am keen to ensure that both parents and students alike are happy with the service and will accommodate additional requests. I like to ensure that the learner is both enthused and engaged in the tutoring sessions and have a range of resources and assessment techniques.

Subjects and levels taught:
Economics: A Level and GCSE (Pearson, AQA and OCR)
Business Studies: A Level and GCSE (Pearson, AQA, OCR and WJEC)
BTEC Business: Level 2 and Level 3
Cambridge Technicals: Level 2 and Level 3

Trevor's last completed A Level job with Jenny: Over 2 hrs/week - I am going to study economics in six form next academic year, so I want to study it during the summer. But I have not studied economics or business in gcse, I don’t know if that is a disadvantage or not.

Trevor's last review in A Level from Julie: Building confidence and "I can do this" approach in my son - making such a difference! thank you

Christian $80-90/hr

Politics, Philosophy and Economics - University of Oxford

I have studied a BA in PPE, and also have an MA in Politics as well as an MSc in Economics. I have a knack for grinding down on complex problems until they look easy, and I love doing this with students and watching how things start to make sense to them. As regards language teaching: I am a German native speaker. What I think is even more important, though, is that I have learned several languages, both in school, but also since, in my free time (including French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian), so I am well aware of how students learn languages and which aspects may be less intuitive than others.

Christian's last completed A Level job with Beau: 1-2 hrs/week - My 18yr grandson has just been given an E grade for his mock A level Economics. He received an A* for his Engineering which has led me to believe that his Ecnomics teacher is failing him in some way . His exams are in May I believe so I feel he would greatly benefit from some outside help from an exceptional tutor in this subject.

Christian's last review in A Level from Kevin: functions of UK parliament Helped me understand a question that I initially found difficult

Julia $45-55/hr

First Class - University of London

I have been tutoring and teaching professionally for nearly a decade and have great success with my pupils. Recently, one of my Theology students got 100% in his OCR exam, having come to me on a D grade. I'm always encouraging (but also honest) and I like to discover someone's learning style and develop that with them. I genuinely love teaching and I think it shows when I work with people.

Julia's last completed A Level job with Amanda: 1-2 hrs/week - My son wants to do law at uni and needs to increase his grades. He is getting around a D and needs to be a B. His others A levels are History and English. We live in quite a remote area and there are few Psychology tutors around.

Julia's last review in A Level from Amanda: It was a great class albeit shortened by technical difficulty on my end but julia was very understanding and we even booked a full hour for this afternoon.

Jonny $45-55/hr

Mathematics/Education - Cambridge University, OU, UEA

I have vast experience of teaching mathematics and further mathematics to A Level, having taught in three different sixth form colleges for a total of 25 years. I thrive when working on maths with learners; it's a subject I love, and the question of how best to communicate it is one that fascinates me. I'm well-qualified; my first degree at Cambridge University (where I won a scholarship) was in Mathematics and Education, and I have an MSc in Mathematical Research from the University of East Anglia. I also have a Cert. Ed. from Cambridge University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education from the Open University. I'm a keen member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics, and I'm constantly trying to improve my teaching in discussion with others.

Jonny's last completed A Level job with Hailan: Intensive - My son is 12 year student studying A level at kings College London maths school. He is doing maths, and further maths as part of his A levels. His school is having year end exam in beginning of June. We would like to find a very experienced teacher to help him review and content, and practice some past papers, to help him prepare for the exams. Hope you can help us. Thank you very much!
