Productive session!
Jonathan 11 May 2022 History of Art
So helpful as usual!
Cora 01 May 2022 History of Art
Cora is an amazing tutor! She is so very helpful! She has provided me with lots of comments regarding revision techniques that I will implement in my revision preparation. I found her advice regarding folding over papers with dates and writing out key facts on lined paper and then testing myself by writing them on the other side to be especially useful. I also found her distinction between exam essays and non-exam essays to be very useful; I will try to hand-hold my reader more in exam essays and I will think about writing more clearly and using more obvious examples sometimes instead of wasting too much time writing about niche ideas that may not work in exam conditions! I will try to do more essay plans to combine content learning and exam preparation. My sessions with Cora are always super useful, and she offers fantastic advice and help. I would recommend her to anyone preparing for their exams as she is very, very knowledgeable when it comes to exam techniques! She is honestly such a fantastic tutor that you will not regret having lessons with her, even if you are not revising for history of art! My sessions with her have been invaluable!
Cora 10 Apr 2022 History of Art
Cora is really amazing! She has offered me superb advice regarding revision techniques and she has helped me with revision planning + execution across all my four a-levels! The skills she taught me are transferrable and I hope that they will make me a better student! I will follow her advice of looking at assessment objectives, mark schemes and examiner reports, as well as writing essay plans before checking notes and then double-checking what I remember and don't remember! She knows so much about how to prepare for exams in a smart and efficient way, and I really hope that I will manage to get the best grades possible and make her proud!

Online History of Art Tuition and Tutors FAQs

Why study history of art?

Art history is the study of art in its context, tracing how it has changed and evolved over time. It is a unique humanities subject that combines elements of history, art, English, classics and sociology in its study. Art History focuses on the artifacts left behind by human civilisation and can be seen as an investigation into our past that helps us to better understand ourselves.

The study of art history teaches us how people in the past saw themselves and their world, and what they wanted others to see. This degree really helps us to understand history on a deeper level than politics and lists of battles. Students who have studied art history develop a sense of curiosity that enables them to use their analytical skills to understand the world around them.

What university degrees is history of art useful for?

Every year hundreds of students at higher universities apply for a history of art education simply for the joy of it. Students who wish to pursue a career in the arts or media should seriously consider this degree. Postgraduates may also pursue a MA /PhD in Art History, enabling them to teach the subject at the tertiary level and also conduct independent research.

The study of art history is not limited to students who wish to pursue a career in the arts. This subject can be followed by anyone who loves and appreciates the beauty that art brings to the world. Even if you do not aspire to be an artist, you can apply your passion and the knowledge you develop to many professions. Often graduates find themselves in advertising, accounting, or event management.

Other less commonly practised but still possible occupations may be working as an archaeologist, historian or journalist specialising in more specific areas.

How does history of art help you enhance your analytical skills?

It takes time to find, examine, and consider the numerous details that constitute most works of art. This process of observation and study helps teach students to more closely observe and assess the world around them—skills that make up the bedrock of critical thinking.
