Dr Steve's last review in IB Global Politics from Mahrukh: IB related activities. Really helpful in terms of helping me figure out where to go for my engagement work, and building up on some basic initial ideas.
I have worked as a professional tutor and educational consultant for six years. I have taught dozens of students for thousands of hours in total. I have also worked as a teacher in an independent school in North London.
I have had many successful students; a few examples include:
>Three admitted to study HSPS at Cambridge.
>One admitted to all three of Westminster, Winchester, and St.Paul's for 13+.
>One who gained 84/84 marks in his A-Level Politics Paper 2, which is now being used as an exemplar.
>One who gained an A in A-Level History after being predicted a C.
I believe that the most important virtue in a tutor is the ability to empathise with a student's cognitive position. When teaching I aim to guide a student through the mental steps needed to accomplish the goal of the lesson.
I typically spend much of a lesson in dialogue with the student. I break this up with exercises to embed and reinforce key points, but I always end the lesson with a call to reflection on what the student has learned. I emphasise that knowledge is open-ended and interconnected.

I am a dedicated and committed teacher of history with 10 years of experience. I completed a PGCE in History at the University of Cumbria in 2009, and spent four years working as an A Level History and Government & Politics teacher at Hartlepool Sixth Form College. I then spent four years at Braeburn International School Arusha as Head of Humanities before becoming Vice Principal. I moved on to spend a year at the British International School Moscow teaching IGCSE and IB History as well as IGCSE Sociology. I also have experience tutoring students for the ACT/SAT as well as IELTS. My students in the past have went on to universities such as Durham, Warwick, Edinburgh as well as Oxbridge. I am now pursuing an MA in History and working part-time in a secondary school in the North East of England.
My lessons are tailor-made personally for you and my average IGCSE and A Level score over the last 10 years has been 80+ A*-C. Every one of my IB History students achieved a Level 6 or above this year. I have a proven track record of excellence and I feel you will find in me the tutor who can make you excel.
I have been a tutor since 2007 and have tutored over 100 clients since then. I am an organised, committed, reliable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with clients, helping them to develop their understanding and interest in a variety of subjects. Whilst tutoring I pay particular attention to the needs of each student and tailor their study courses to best meet their needs and wishes. My approach to tutoring emphasises clarity, flexibility, and an enthusiasm for learning, within an informal and relaxed yet structured and interactive environment. I encourage students to think imaginatively and challenge themselves academically, encouraging debate and broadening their horizons. This not only helps to improve a student's examination technique but also their academic development.
I have helped those I tutor to significantly improve their exam results and grades, often taking them from C and D level grades up to high As and Bs. One of my most recent tutee, who I tutored in GCSE Geography and History, achieved Grade 9 in both subjects and came top of his year at school for his GCSE grades.

Intensive - hi I have to do my IB extended essay in global politics, in theory I have already done it, but it is completely wrong! I was wondering if you could help me develop a new one so that I can achieve a good grade.
the EE is in Global politics and the title is "to what extent is modern slavery in the DRC fuelled by external actors?"
basically what I have to do is develop a claim and a counterclaim on how external actors, such us other countries have tackled the development of Congo and kept modern slavery.
I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into digestible bites and communicating it to others. I have practiced this skill throughout my career as a researcher and writer. I have experience teaching primary and secondary school children Maths, Science and English. I have also taught English as a second language. Having gained a BA degree from the University of Cambridge and a MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and being one year through a PhD at the LSE, I feel that I can offer excellent advice regarding university applications, personal statements and interview preparation.

My main tutoring work is in preparing students for the American standardized exams; I have experience with the SAT, SAT-2 (Subject Tests), ACT, GRE, GMAT, ISEE and SSAT. I have helped over 200 students with their exams; of these, more than one-third made successful applications to Ivy League schools or major business schools.
I specialise in Verbal for all tests and have a strong record of helping students accomplish top scores through my own system of strategies, fine-tuned for each individual for optimal results. Where applicable, I ensure all students have a rock-solid foundation and a whole tool kit of strategies designed specifically for each element of the test.
I have helped with the all of the aforementioned exams in a variety of different teaching scenarios. As well as working face to face, I have also taught extensively online via Skype. Numerous students have been apprentices with Premier League Youth Academies, including those at Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, who have required particularly attentive tutoring to help them make up for gaps in their knowledge due to their heavy sporting schedules. I have taught people with learning difficulties and I also have plenty of experience in working with younger students, from 8 and up, on the ISEE and SSAT.
