I have been a Teaching Assistant at King's College London for two years at the Departments of History and Business. I have assisted Undegraduate students preparing for exams, and corrected their essays while delivering power point lectures on subjects from 1700 to 1989. I am competent to teach any subject/period of history-
My expertise includes International Relations, Sociology, Academic Writing for Qualititative Methods, Philosophy and Politics
I have taught adults and bilinguals for more than 10 years and I am experienced with SEN students, and students who need some inspiration to study.
During my PhD studies I taught a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses pertaining to the broad fields of Government and Politics, including among others, International Relations, Foreign Policy, Politics, Politics and Society in Central and Eastern Europe, Institutions and Policies of the European Union, Emerging Market Economies, European Security, Sociology, and Qualitative Methods. Based on the excellent feedback I have received from students, both inside and outside the university, and their request to help them with other modules I have also taught courses on History (e.g. History of the Soviet Union, Cold War, etc.) and Culture (e.g. Russian Cinema, European Literature, etc.) thus broadening my teaching area expertise.
I have been a professional tutor since 2006.
Across all of the different subjects I teach, I always notice the same thing: the main difficulty that learners encounter is getting overwhelmed by what they're trying to learn. It could be that there seems to be simply too much material to cover; it could be that the concepts seem too difficult; it could be that the whole thing causes anxiety for some completely different reason which is apparently unrelated to the 'academic' side of things.
I help remove anxiety, regardless of what form it might take, in whatever way seems like it will help each individual most. Before long, it becomes possible to see the task in hand with different eyes – indeed, more importantly, at this point most of my students come to see their own abilities entirely differently. They may have come to me with a fixed idea of what they are 'bad' at, but I help them to realise that they have skills they hardly suspected.
I have more than 12 years of teaching experience which covers a wide range of subjects including macroeconomics, statistics, mathematics and econometrics. I currently work as a lecturer [assistant professor] in Economics at Swansea University (full-time) and Cardiff University (part-time). I am also a Research Associate at the Economic Research Forum (ERF). I won the `Excellence in Learning and Teaching Award' from Swansea University for 2019. I hold a PhD, M.Sc and Bachelor degrees in Economics.
I am a lecturer in International Relations at Tel Aviv University and the Rothberg International School, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I hold a PhD in 20th Century History from University College London.
I have excelled in teaching students: in the five years I have been teaching the course 'Nuclear Nonproliferation and Security' at Tel Aviv University, between 40-60 students have enrolled each year. My experience in preparing and assessing course work and examinations will be invaluable in supporting students ahead of their assessments. I also have extensive experience in teaching online. My tutoring is informed by the research I have carried out on diverse topics in the field. I am very sensitive to the personal needs of my students and their welfare.
As an academic and author of the book ‘Margaret Thatcher and the Middle East’, published by Cambridge University Press, I am also very well placed to support students in academic writing.
I worked as a teaching assistant at the Sultan's School in Muscat for approximately four months in 2013 and subsequently in an similar role at St Thomas' Choir School in New York. I have also written practice papers for 11+ students sitting scholarship exams; I specialised in English, although I have also written Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal reasoning papers. Since the autumn of 2019 I have worked with Tavistock Tutors and have helped a number of clients achieve their goals across a range of subjects.
